Lapa Palace Hotel

The magnificent Lapa Palace  hotel opened as a hotel in 1992, having been built in 1870 as the private residence of the Count of Valenças.

Standing in an elegant residential and diplomatic area of the city, this Orient Express Hotel looks over lovely landscaped gardens towards the River Tagus, and is decorated in traditional Portuguese style with marble stucco, carved wood and patterned ‘azulejos’ (tiles). The hotel has a heated outdoor swimming pool and an indoor pool.

The acclaimed Ristorante Hotel Cipriani is open year-round for lunch and dinner; it prides itself on its fine Venetian and Italian cuisine. The glass-panelled Rio Tejo bar is an ideal retreat for an informal drink. Several top golf courses are a short drive, and the town-centre is easily reached by tram or taxi.
