Description

Built as a Governor’s palace in the 19th century just inside the ancient ramparts of Taroudant and forming part of the kasbah, the Palais Salam Hotel is in a truly beautiful setting.

Enclosing lush gardens and courtyards with cool fountains, it is full of character and atmosphere, the décor blending traditional Moorish style with modern facilities and the modern extensions to the hotel. Pool terraces, lovely gardens and idyllic patios provide many secluded places to relax in the warm sunshine.

There are three restaurants, the Roudana serving Moroccan dishes in an intimate atmosphere, the others offering international cuisine. Occasionally, excursions visit for meals. There is also a fitness room, sauna and hammam. Taroudant is deep in the heart of the fertile Souss plain, where people are mostly employed in farming and crafts.

Tourism is still fairly incidental and relaxed and so visitors can taste the 'real' Morocco.

Bedrooms are located in the old palace and wing (lower price), or the new wing (Riad I rooms); traditionally furnished with satellite TV, mini-bar, and those used by us are air-conditioned/heated.

Junior suites (Riad II rooms) with a mini-bar and sitting-area are available in the new wing, some with a balcony or terrace. There are also some duplex rooms in the old palace wing and apartments with 2 bedrooms in the new wing.
