Set in a prime cliff-top position with magnificent views over the bay and harbour, the Pestana Carlton Madeira Hotel is an impressive and well-established hotel with excellent facilities.

It is within easy walking distance of the casino and a number of pleasant restaurants in a mainly residential quarter of the city. The centre of Funchal with its many bars, restaurants, shops and harbour is a modest downhill stroll. Alternatively, guests can take advantage of the hotel’s impressive facilities. There’s a tennis court, health club with indoor pool, sauna and fitness room, and also a spa with a range of beauty treatments and massage. Special packages at the island’s two golf courses are easily arranged.

The property enjoys direct access to the sea and hosts a private diving school and there are seasonal watersports, including deep-sea fishing.
