Description

Built in 1894 as a traditional Madeiran manor for a wealthy local family, the Quinta Bela São Tiago  Hotel has been tastefully extended to become an intimate and charming small hotel.

It enjoys a fine elevated position overlooking the harbour to the east of Funchal. This elegant family-run hotel has an excellent range of facilities, such as a lovely outdoor heated swimming pool with surrounding sun terraces and views across the ocean, and a small health centre with fitness room, sauna, jacuzzi and Turkish bath.

The pretty restaurant is in the original part of the house, and breakfast is served on the terrace or in the airy conservatory, where later in the day guests can enjoy a drink whilst watching the sunset across the bay.

Now more than a 100 years old, this Quinta still has the original gardens, which contain a small banana plantation and orchard.
