Windsurfer's paradise - The name of this Canary Island is derived from two words fuerte (strong) and viento (wind), so it's hardly surprising that this sunny, breezy isle is a famous destination for windsurfing aficionados.

In fact, with its hot, dry climate - Fuerteventura is the Canary Island closest to Africa - white beaches and brisk wind, this is simply a paradise for windsurfers, surfers, divers and all watersports lovers. Romantic landscapes - Fuerteventura is also an island where you can truly lose yourself.

There are more than 150 beaches here, many of them quiet and solitary, where you can wander and bathe in peace. It's romantic too. Like the other Canary Islands, Fuerteventura is volcanic, giving it strange contours and an unusual desert-like landscape, complete with sand dunes.
